Louise Woollcombe, a senior consultant with Toronto-based legal recruiting firm Heller Group, remembers interviewing a very senior lawyer for a position. He was sailing along beautifully except for one thing: “During the whole interview he kept picking his teeth with his fingernail,” she says. “All I could think of was how I was going to end this interview without haven to shake his hand.”
